The basketball season has ended

Logen's basketball season ended this week with a game on Monday and Wednesday. They won the game on Monday-which was a re-match with the Lake Hazel Middle School Cherokees. Final score was 25-24----another down to the wire game!

Yesterday the team played against the Sawtooth Middle School Sabercats. Another awesome game with each team scoring one right after each other. The game was tied several times but it ultimately ended with the Sabercats winning 31 to 26. Logen had quite the cheering section yesterday with his cousins, Tate and Hailey (and parents: Dennis cousin' Terry and Julie) coming to watch the game. Also his great-aunt Lorna was in town visiting so she came to cheer him on also. It was nice of everyone to take time out of their day to support Logen.

There is such anxiety and excitement sitting on the sidelines watching these kids play with such determination. It has been a great season--we are wishing it wasn't over--it went rather quickly for all of us.

These pictures are of Logen shooting the basketball at the free-throw line---as you can see he made the basket!!

Preschool Fun!!

Colin is going to a small preschool class on Wednesday mornings. It is for 8 weeks and the class only last for 45 minutes. It is a great way to get him adjusted to a structured school program that is not so overwhelming. He has never been in a structured day care setting--only the relaxed/structured babysitting setting of Aunt Tina's house.

It is amazing how many activities this little preschool can fit into a 45-minute time period. It starts off with "free play" or an arts and craft project. Colin prefers playing with the Thomas train set as opposed to the "artsy" stuff, but he has done a couple projects (or should I say "I" have completed a few projects with Colin's help)!

After crafts they have circle time with a few songs, a book being read and child participation--or mom's participation depending what kind of mood Colin is in. :)

Music and dancing come next--Colin loves to shake his maraca!

Then it is Colin's favorite part--the parachute......he loves shaking it, going under it and mostly loves the "ride" on it!

Bubble time, then getting your hands stamped for being a good boy in preschool rounds out the 45 minutes.....and we are tired (okay, its more like "I" am tired)!

Is it nap time yet???

Work!

The sky has been blue and the sun was shining all last week! Yea--could spring be right around the corner??

The business phone is ringing and we are getting hopeful that the spring rush will soon be upon us.

The chain saws are sharpened, gas is in the tanks, the equipment is ready to roll.......let the spring trimming begin!

And the answer is YES, for all of you wondering if this is a picture of Dennis in a tree. I like this picture because you can see the roof top of the house and get a general idea on how high up in this tree he really is!

FYI: this tree is being removed-not trimmed! :)

Kid's Fair 2009 and the yo-yo

Logen has been asked to participate in the Kids Fair in Boise next weekend (28th) at a yo-yo demonstration. The event is from 10-6. He will be in a group of about (7) kids from his yo-yo group. He has learned (10) tricks that they will doing in a "fast challenge", which means all 10 tricks in 15 seconds! Here he is wearing his new shirt for the Kid's Fair (minus a smile) looking very official.

I love my boy....even without the smile! :)

The Ultimate CARS Fan

Colin is a huge CARS fan. For those of you
without small children, CARS is an animated movie made by Pixar and has a great cast of voices. This movie came out in 2006 but it is still a big hit with a sequel planned for release in 2011---our family has probably seen CARS at least a dozen or more times! With a great kids show, next comes great kid merchandising. So here Colin sits in his CARS pajamas, holding a car from the movie CARS (sheriff police car), and sitting in his new CARS chair. All this is added to plenty of other CAR toys already in his collection. Maybe the merchandisers should hire Colin for a commercial?!?

On a side note, the studio that Tyler works for does a lot of the "voices/sounds" for toys. I can't remember off the top of my head all of them but he did tell me that they did the voices for the TOY STORY line of toys. TOY STORY is another big movie hit with the kids and Colin!

Cute Cute Cute

I had to share this picture of Colin. He was wearing these "glasses" this morning while he was playing and would not take them off to eat his breakfast......OH MY GOSH...so cute....do you think the blueberry muffins looked better through 3D glasses?!?

Winter Illness

Well, the winter illness hit the family this last week. Logen caught it first.....he was so sick. I will leave out all the fine details except to say that he did not eat for a couple days. He missed school on Wednesday (and a basketball game) and also on Thursday. The schools were closed on Friday and today, Monday, for a long holiday weekend. He hasn't seen his school for almost a week now. He is feeling much better today and was well enough to go to Youth Group at church last night.

Logen was kind enough to pass off his sickness to Dennis on Friday. Wow, its not very often I have seen my husband sick, and let me tell you I do not like it one bit. He was pretty sick. He went to bed early on Friday night and he did not even make it out the bedroom door again until yesterday in the late morning. He is feeling much better today.....thank God.

At this point I am knocking on wood and saying my prayers that I dodged the illness bullet. Whatever those two guys had I want no part of!

Can you say V-I-C-T-O-R-Y ?

Today there was a re-match between Logen's Meridian Middle School Chiefs and Lowell Scott Explorers.....and the final score was: 27 - 26 with the Chiefs winning this game.

It was a great game...down to the wire...then sweet victory!

I despise that Groundhog!!

Looking out my back door right now this is what I see: Gloomy weather....and you can not tell from this picture but there are tiny snowflakes coming down! WHERE is SPRING??? Can the groundhog have a do-over because I need the sunshine, green grass, flip flop weather, blooming flowers ---doesn't that groundhog understand, I need spring???

Pictures

Tyler was complimenting me on how nice the quality of my pictures on the blog looked. So I thought I would give a big shout out--THANK YOU! -- to Tyler since he is the one that bought Dennis and I this new camera for Christmas.

It is a Nikon Coolpix, and I know that the color is not suppose to be important but I love the color--chocolate brown. Our old camera was only a few years old but it did not take long for it to be outdated. The biggest problem for me, was that it was too bulky and we could not carry it around easily. This new camera is small enough just to fit in a pocket. Its amazing how many mega-pixels cameras now have compared to just a few years ago. Another great feature is that it has wi-fi built in, so I can email pictures right from the camera. I love this camera and we are taking more pictures then we have in a long time

THANKS again Tyler-- I think about you every time I use it.

Missing Tyler

It feels like it has been forever since I have seen Tyler. We were in Las Vegas in October and Tyler was here for Thanksgiving......but it just seems like a long time! Especially since the next time that there is a plan to get together is not until his birthday in April. Oh, I do talk to him EVERYDAY on the phone but it is not the same thing as getting a hug from him, having the eye to eye contact conversations, or sitting across the table and having a meal with him.

Maybe I have just been worrying about him more because he had the strangest encounter with a somewhat- psychotic-guy. Tyler was backing out of his parking spot at his apartment complex (gated complex) a couple weeks ago, to go back to work from his lunch. As he was backing out he heard this thump on his car, so he slammed on the brakes, puts the car in park and gets out to investigate. There is a guy laying on the ground saying that Tyler hit him. Tyler tells him he did not see him and asks him if he is okay. The guy says his hand hurts and that Tyler better give him some money. Tyler said that the guy was obviously on drugs and acting very strange. He did not know what to do so he gave the guy $25! Tyler called me after this happened. He sounded upset and stressed. He told me what happened. I told him that I thought he had been scammed. At first Tyler didn't believe that would be true. "who does something like that?", he asked. Apparently a guy who is "psychotic"!

We told Tyler that if he came around again, that he needed to call the police. I had to continue being the mom and explain to be careful when parking the car and walking to his apartment in the dark, etc, etc! (which he already knows!!!)

Well the "weirdo" came back...this time he left a rambling note on Tyler's car (with A LOT of grammatical and spelling errors-hence he is not too intelligent) telling Tyler that he better call him, he has witnesses, he notified the apartment management and he is going to call the police if he did not contact him. Tyler went to talk to the managers of the apartment complex and apparently this guy was in the office trying to find out what apartment Tyler lived in.

So Tyler went to the police and filed a report (last weekend). They said that he definitely had been scammed and to call them if he showed up again. Tyler has been parking his car in a different area and not going home for lunch just in case the guy figured out his schedule.

You know, I was worried when Tyler moved to Las Vegas-it is such a big city. But he had gone to college in another big city, he is great kid (sorry Tyler you are still a kid to me, MY KID) and he did have Heather there in Vegas so I tried not to worry too much....then enters the weirdo.

So I am missing Tyler and worrying a little more.......

NO blogging about basketball games!!

I have been asked, kind of nicely, not to blog on Logen's basketball games. Maybe he thinks it is bringing him bad luck!

I, on the other hand, know he is a great team player and the team has done exceptionally well. They have definitely played some good games!

I loved this action shot of Logen so I decided to not "blog" about the game-just show a great picture of Logen. He is wearing a white jersey today because they were the home team--this is in the gym where he goes to school--HOME OF THE CHIEFS!

Big Boy!

I thought this was such a cute picture! Colin did not want to sit on our laps he wanted to sit on the bleachers like a big boy. He sat there pretty good for awhile, clapping his hands for the his cousin's team when everyone else did.

Thanks for reading our family blog!

I think I did pretty good--first month into the blog and I posted (15) times. That is an average of a blog every two days! Not too bad if I do say so myself.

Thanks to my Aunt Connie..for sending me the email and telling me that she was enjoying reading it! I do not have a "counter" on my blog that counts how many people access the blog.....so I had been wondering if anyone was out there. :) I know Mom and Ryan are probably sick of me asking, "have you read the blog lately?"

Smiles Everyone!!!

Last week Ryan and I took Colin to an indoor play area. It has a huge climbing structure that Colin loved! Ryan spent an hour or so climbing through it with him....and it either made him feel young again (like a kid back on the playground) or old (trying to catch his breath). I have to admit, I climbed around with Colin too but only ONCE, it was enough for me. After Colin wore his dad out on that, Ryan let him ride a few "rides". Colin had a great time.

I am posting this picture (below) because I have posted a couple pictures of Ryan on this blog and if anyone was noticing.....he never smiles! Its not just these pictures, as I look back at pictures through the years, if Ryan is posing for a picture he does not seem to smile. Well I got a smile out of him. So I think it is a great picture even though Colin is looking the other way!
