The Lights......

I guess we have to start somewhere, so today Dennis started the job of decorating the outside of the house....first big job on the list is to add lights to the ash tree out front.

Dennis does a fantastic job by wrapping lights around every branch in the tree--since he has A LOT of experience climbing trees he can get up in the tree real well and make it look beautiful. It is a lot of work!

Dennis brought all the Christmas decoration boxes from the shed onto the back patio. I am always so surprised how much stuff we have. We will concentrate on getting the outside decorations up this week and work on the Christmas tree next week.

I do not usually go too crazy with decorations but Colin really is understanding the holidays this year so I think it will be fun to do a little more and have the tree up a little longer this year. I will put the tree up earlier then I usually do but I can almost guarantee that it will still come down the day after Christmas, like always! :)

Thanksgiving 2009

This year we did something a lot different for Thanksgiving then we usually do....we went out to dinner. We pondered long and hard if we should cook or go out to dinner. We talked about just making a simple Thanksgiving dinner but I know we have tried that before and it never turns out that way. We have a hard time not putting all the traditional foods on the table, so next thing you know we have only a few people sitting at the table but enough food to feed an army. So in the end it was going out to dinner that won the debate. I have to admit that I had a hard time telling people what we were doing for dinner. How lazy and nontraditional of us!!! We headed out to dinner in the early afternoon to a local buffet restaurant and.......the line was out the door. We were shocked! Off to the other local buffet restaurant that Logen prefers. Guess what that restaurant was packed too but we decided to wait. The line moved pretty fast with us having just about at 15 minute wait. The food was really good. It was great to get seconds and even third helpings on the food we really liked. The dessert choices were good also. Even though we did have pies at home waiting for us we tried some extra goodies.

When we all left the restaurant I had a full tummy and a big smile on my face because the line was way out the door of people waiting to get in and be seated so they could eat their Thanksgiving dinner....with the smile on my face I realized I was not the only person that didn't cook the big Thanksgiving meal.....maybe it was nothing to be ashamed of!?!

I have to admit though, I am missing the tons of leftovers in the refrigerator and with dinner time upon us I sure would love to have a hot turkey sandwich right now! :)

Thanksgiving is defined in the dictionary as:

the act of giving thanks; grateful acknowledgment of benefits or favors, especially to God.

I know that I have so much to be thankful for; my healthy children, a kind and loving husband, good health, love of friends and family, a home and an income.

Life is Good!.

Out with October...In with November....

Looks like it is almost time for "Out with November" and "In with December".........

Where has the last two months gone??? Life was going right along; we went on vacation the first part of October, came home and settled in with some beautiful fall weather, then out of nowhere I get sick with "the flu". Next thing I know I am looking at the calendar realizing Thanksgiving is two days away and December (and Christmas) is right around the corner! I feel like a bear that has been hibernating the last two months---the time has just been lost, gone, never to get it back.

I am very anxious to get back to blogging. I have so much that I missed sharing with my you, my family; Colin's birthday party, field trips, Tyler news, Logen news and believe it or not I still have great pictures of Vegas that I have not shared yet.

Let the blogging begin, again.......

IT arrived

SWINE FLU

The flu hit me hard a couple weeks ago.....I spent a long weekend under 6 blankets and a heating pad just to try to keep warm even though my temperature was over 102 degrees!
As I had mentioned in an earlier post to my blog, Logen got the flu, which we now suspect to be the swine flu also. Colin was only sick for about 24 hours but had a lingering cough for a couple weeks, so we all decided just to keep him home from school for 2 weeks while he was coughing.
When this started, I did take both of the kids to the doctor to have their lungs listened to, to make sure no pneumonia was setting in. According to the doctor, they both sounded good.
When I went to the doctor they treated me like I was a walking disease; they made me wear a mask and everyone seemed to keep their distance from me. The doctor told me I had the swine flu. I tried to get her to say I just had the regular flu but she would not change her mind! She would not give me any medication, told me to not do anything for a couple weeks and I SHOULD get feeling better. Well I do finally feel better, but the cough is still lingering around!
Thank God there was a healthy person in the house....The flu has not caught up with Dennis yet....keep our fingers crossed and prayers in mind.
I hope to be up and running and updating my blog more real soon.
