My Son is a Rock Star…..

……or at least he “plays” one in the the evenings, sometimes!

Tyler and his band, Nothing With Numbers, have been busy playing gigs.  Last week the band was ranked #1 in the Las Vegas Weekly Magazine, which is a very big deal to a local band.  The band is getting a great fan base.  They have also been networking with other bands, so they are getting requests to open up for bigger Las Vegas bands.

The other night they played a gig a the Bunk House Saloon.  This is the venue where I saw they perform in October.  It is a smaller bar but they can really pack the people in…….

These guys have a great time performing together, are good friends and they all are very talented.

I hope I can get to Vegas soon to see them perform again.

Keep up the good work…..and if anyone is wondering, after looking at these pictures…..YES….the deer is wearing a bra!  :)

The Baker’s Helper

A week or so before Valentines Day, Colin and I decided to make special valentine cakes…..yummy red velvet cakes……with white frosting.

Colin loves helping me bake.  We put on his “Home Depot” Apron and hit the kitchen.  We had help from Mr. Duncan Hines to make our red Valentine cakes and they turned out yummy!

Sweethearts

A couple of weeks ago Logen and Shelbe were going to go to the Sweethearts Dance.  The dance was being held at Boise State University for all the local high schools which means there was going to be A LOT of kids at this event.

About a week before the dance Shelbe and Logen decided not to attend the dance.  I, personally,  supported their decision.  I think there is way too much pressure put on kids to have this intense, awesome “high school experience” …….after all they are only freshman.  They have three more years for all the dances and experiences.   Don’t get me wrong, I love that love that Logen is involved with activities at school.  He attends a lot of the sporting events and he supports his girlfriend, Shelbe, with her cheerleading by attending the games she cheers at.  He is also involved in acting at school and will be in a featured play this spring.  I know the remaining three years will go by fast but the kids will have the experience they want and enjoy their high school years, after all it is their experience not ours….we had our chance.

Off my “soapbox” and back to the story……Logen decided to make the day of the dance special even though they had decided not to go.  He bought and surprised Shelbe with two dozen pink roses.  They were absolutely beautiful.  Shelbe was surprised.  DSCN2429 DSCN2430 DSCN2431

And if anybody is wondering…does it freak me out a little bit that these two teenagers (14 & 15) have been dating for eight months now??  yes it does;  Especially after talking to a special friend of ours…Linda told me that she was the kids age when she met her husband Jeff and they have been together ever since.  They just celebrated their anniversary…..34 years!  Congratulations….but I am still a little freaked out!  :)

Our Toy Story Fan

I know by now no one is surprised what a fan of Toy Story Colin really is….he is nutty!

A few weeks ago I hit a sale and bought him two pairs of pajamas that resembled two of his favorite characters:  Woody and Buzz Lightyear.  He flipped when he saw them.  He calls them his “costume”.  Colin used to be the first one in the house dressed now he would rather stay in his “costume” all day…if we would let him.

Colin was looking on-line (yes, I said COLIN--he is a computer wiz).  Well, he found a Buzz Lightyear mask that he thought he just HAD to have.  Well obviously we can’t buy everything he sees and wants so I did the next best thing….copied the image, printed it out on cardstock, added one of my headbands so he could wear it and voila’ ….he is now Buzz Lightyear (or at least he thinks he is)!

And I must admit he makes a mighty handsome Woody too!

Wow

It has been a long time since I have written on my blog.  I have a very good excuse:

625

This cartoon represents what my life feels like this time of the year..every year!  If you remember last year at this time I HAD to take a self-imposed hiatus from my blog because of all the craziness at my desk…this year isn’t much better!

I hope to get everyone caught up on all the happenings here in the next day or two.

Tina
