Last Friday we made the four hour trek across the state to spend the 4th of July holiday with Dennis' family. We did not get on the road as early as we would have liked but we made it safely to Idaho Falls about 4:30 in the afternoon...just in time for an afternoon thunderstorm!
Dennis' Aunt and Uncle were kind enough to let us stay in their travel trailer that is parked in their backyard. So we saved money by not pulling our travel trailer across the state or paying an outrageous price for a hotel room on a holiday weekend. So this is where we are laid our head for two nights last weekend. We appreciate Lorna and Dewey letting us stay with them and all the meals that fed us. We were so thankful for their hospitality.
Saturday morning, the 4th, started with us going to the Annual 4th of July parade. I was amazed at the size of the crowd to watch the parade. Apparently Dennis' family "staked out" a spot two days before the parade so we had great front row seats for the great event! When I say "staked out" thats what they did. Stakes in the ground with string showing that the area was "reserved". This is our crowd:
There was a lot of patriotic spirit in this town today!
I loved this picture of the revolutionary soldiers:
This is a picture for all the Star War fans in my family (Tyler/Ryan):
These "Scottish" bagpipe playing fireman were a hit in my book ;o) They were playing God Bless America
We had to get a picture of Dennis' High School float ~Go Tigers!~
The crowd of people was incredible. Apparently this event is a pretty big deal in Idaho Falls, population approximately 54,000.
