Last week the shop finished up the work on the travel trailer and four NEW tires were put on the trailer. The wheel well area is built better than it was before. This is a picture of the wheel well---that is where the tire blew through and destroyed everything. Can you believe that it was originally built with a very thin board and lined in a plastic wrap to keep the weather out. Now you can see it is built right, with sheet metal.
On Saturday, Dennis and his good friend Richard, worked on trimming the area out with wood ...and rebuilding the bench seat.
It was over 100 degrees on Sunday and probably even hotter in the trailer. They worked hard and it shows. I am mighty impressed what a great job they did. Notice how nice all the wood matches. Dennis could not find pre-finished boards that matched, so we stained the boards ourselves.
I really wanted new vinyl floor installed, the light color of this floor shows everything and I am constantly sweeping. With the heat and everything on Sunday, getting a new floor will have to be a fall project! I am not complaining though because this trailer is now road worthy.
This weekend is the big annual Family Reunion....and we are ready to go (mentally not physically) ;o) We have decided to take extra days off before the reunion and after the reunion, something we have never done before. We will be out camping for seven days, something else we have never done before. We usually just take long weekends. This should be an interesting adventure and loads of fun!
Let the grocery shopping begin!
