Family Dinner and Easter Egg Hunt

Our Easter was really nice. Simple but nice.

Our day started out with an Easter basket for Colin. The Easter bunny was good to him...he got a new movie, two more Car movie cars to add to his collection and a peanut butter cup. The Easter bunny decided that Logen was a little too old (he is almost 14 now) for a basket this year but he had something up his sleeve in the backyard for later in the day.

Dennis and I made a family dinner. We did not do the traditional ham dinner, we decided to make a roast instead. At the last minute I decided to change the recipe up for the baby carrots. I was just going to steam them but I remembered that we had glazed baby carrots at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant before and they were really good. So I searched the internet and found a simple recipe that I had all the ingredients for....and they turned out really good. It was nice that we could all get together on this special day. The weather really cooperated with us...it was so beautiful outside.....that is where we spent our time most of the day. The weather is still a little unpredictable so I have not set out all the patio furniture.

Logen had to hunt the backyard for the "golden" egg! He had a heck of a time finding it--but once he did he liked what he found in it.
After dinner it was time for Colin's Easter egg hunt. He did a really good job finding the eggs, but he wanted to open each egg after he found it. Most had chocolate in it but there were a few that had pennies in it. He likes pennies not silver money and thankfully not paper money.....yet! :) Every time he found an egg with pennies in it he had to hold the pennies in his hand along with the Easter basket. Let me tell you, twelve cents later, he had his hands mighty full!!!

We are thankful for our many blessings this year!

  1. I don't agree--you are never too old for an Easter basket. It just contains different items. Prepared one for Uncle Stephen (with Dickies workpants) and also still do one for Jason and his girlfriend. Glad to hear that Logen had to search for a golden egg. You didn't say what it was but I know you made it special. Loved the pictures of Colin and details of his egg hunt. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Well you may be right--I just need to get more creative! :) Logen did have a good time searching for the golden egg--the picture of him isn't very clear (I should have zoomed it) but he is standing on the trampoline holding his $20 bill that was in the egg. Not too original, but he had a huge smile on his face when he found it!!
