We had to use our imagination when it came to needing more office/desk space. I had seen a lot of ideas on the internet for converting closet space to "office space". We debated about the master bedroom closet but after some thought and discussion we thought our entry closet may be perfect. We wondered if we did convert it, would we miss having that closet space? It did not take long for that question to be answered!
The first thing we had to do was clean out the closet. With doing that, that is how our question was answered. You would not believe what was in the closet.
- A hooded sweatshirt that belonged to Logen in elementary school (it hasn't been worn for over 3 years).
- Shoes that belong to Tyler...he hasn't lived at home since January 2005.
- a ski jacket that belonged to Logen....ski pass attached from 2004.
- A jean jacket that I swear Dennis has had since his high school days.
- oh and MAYBE a few old things belonging to me also.
So with a can of paint ($0 -left over from the master bedroom), tape measure, and only one trip to the home improvement store (approx. $50) our plans were underway.
I really wish I would have taken a picture of the unorganized, overly stuffed closet that we started with...because what we ended up with is awesome.
This is the view looking toward the front door (front door is on the right side of the picture) and the "coat" closet on the left:
The biggest misconception when I tell people of my new work space is that they think I sit IN the closet....I DON"T!!! :) The space is in the closet, the edge of the "desk" comes just to the opening of the closet. My chair actually sits outside of the closet. An added bonus is that when the sun is shining I can open the front door and enjoy the looking outside and the sunshine. What do they call that? An office with a view???
Like I said.....a little crazy....but it works...and I like it!
