We had such a wonderful visit with Tyler when we went to Las Vegas in October. Unfortunately the way Vegas hotels work is that you can get a GREAT rate on hotel rooms during the week but on the weekend they "SOCK" it to YOU. So when we went to Vegas, we stayed during the week and only had to pay an outrageous price for one night-Friday night. What that means is that we were there and Tyler had to WORK! It seemed to work out fine....we had dinner and quality time every night after work, but it was limited. Like I wrote about before, Friday night I went to his "gig" with his band. And then after family time and a great brunch we had to head back home on Saturday.
With all that being said....I am SO happy that Tyler is coming home for Christmas. Last year he stayed in Vegas and shared Christmas with Heather and her family. We tried to make it all right by watching Tyler open his gifts via the web cam over the computer.....it was better than nothing but it was far from the same thing as him being here. Tyler will fly home the morning of the 18th and head back to Vegas on the 27th.
Tyler is doing great with his job. This last October marked two years that he has worked for Studio Center. Again, I have to add that he is so fortunate to have a job in the field in which he received his degree. He still loves getting up each and every morning and going to work. I know a lot of us would like to say the same thing about our careers, but can't! :)
His band, Nothing with Numbers, is also doing quite well! They have gotten a lot of exposure in Las Vegas. Along with a lot of fans that they bring into each and every show they play. They have played a lot of high energy shows. The biggest news for the band is that they have a song on a CD. It is a compilation (which means one song from different bands) CD and it has been recorded and recently released. The song that they recorded for the CD is, Karate Jesus. Don't let the name fool you...I do not think it is spiritual. :) You can find out information on the CD at their website: www.gcrecords.com. The song from Nothing with Numbers is also for sale on i tunes. Can you even imagine Tyler's band has a song that has been released to purchase and download. Absolutely incredible. But like they say on their myspace page: "We aren’t rocking this hard to get famous…we rock this hard because we love music and love playing music!" I am really proud of Tyler and the rest of his friends/band mates!
Tyler has recently come together with a a few of his friends and decided to rent a house and move in together. They are a renting a beautiful home in Las Vegas. I was able to meet all his roommates while I was in Vegas, except one. These guys are stand out young men. They all genuinely like each other which shows simply in the way they even went about moving, unpacking and setting up the house.....with them all pitching in. Maybe it is just a guy thing because I know that women living together doesn't usually work too well. :) Well I am sure you are wondering with Tyler moving in with friends where did that leave Heather, Tyler's girlfriend of 3 1/2 years. Heather is still going to college and working as many hours as she can but they decided she could save more by her moving back home. Heather is a great student and very devoted to finishing up her schooling. Tyler definitely supports her in her schooling. With Tyler moving in a bigger house and more people to split expenses with it in turn helps him financially too. It is pretty expensive to live in Vegas. They all moved in over a month ago and the transition went really well. I have not heard any complaints!
Incredible to think Tyler will be home a week from tomorrow. I have to say, for me, as a mom, it is the BEST feeling to have my kids home together. Those are the nights I especially fall asleep with a smile on my face. It is so comforting to know that my kids are here at home, safe, sleeping sound in their beds.........my family feels so complete......
