Turning Point Ceremony

stage set for the ceremony in the auditorium of Meridian Middle School

Logen's graduation from 8th grade, which is called the Turning Point Ceremony, was today. The school put on a wonderful program for the students and parents.

The celebration included:
  • several talent performances
  • speeches by teachers and students
  • slide show presentation
  • choir performances
The last thing that the students did was come up on to the stage and took turns at the microphone stating their name. Then they would go to the center of the stage and turn on a light bulb on a structure in the middle of the stage (see picture above). The light was suppose to be symbolic of turning to the next chapter (or point) in their life. There were over 300 students completing 8th grade at Logen's school today.

Here is a picture of Logen turning on his light:

I would like to know who I get the sentimental/emotional tears from?? All we did was walk into the school; I saw the 8th graders filing into the auditorium and the "water works" started. I had to go borrow a Kleenex from the school secretary.....Even though she has known me for the last three years, I am sure she was thinking I was mighty strange! :0(After the Turning Point Ceremony, the kids were having lunch and then it was time for their eighth grade dance. Logen said the dance was a blast!

Tomorrow is the last day of school which will mostly just consist of the yearbooks being handed out to the kids and the kids spending time in their classes having friends and teachers sign the yearbooks.

We are so proud of Logen, another milestone in his life completed.
