Tyler and Heather drove to San Diego last weekend for a little rest and relaxation. Heather has just finished up her semester at school so it was perfect timing. They drove over after work on Friday--it is about a five hour drive. They were again able to stay on the military base hotel in San Diego. I love it when they stay there.....not only are they saving money because they get the room for such a great price, but being on a military base has got to be one of the safest places to be! ;) Always a mom, aren't I???They started their Saturday with a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Tyler really wanted to go to the zoo the last time they were in San Diego but they had run out of time. They made sure that they made time for it this time and were at the zoo when the gates opened at 9am on Saturday morning. Tyler said that the weather was overcast and lightly raining. He loved it! It kept the temperatures down and they really enjoyed themselves. I am anxious to see pictures. I asked him to get a good picture of a monkey for Colin--Colin is very interested in Curious George right now!
Saturday night a concert was on the agenda. Another band I had never heard of but according to Tyler they put on a great show. Some of their friends drove over from Vegas on Saturday and met up with them to go to the concert also.
On Sunday they went to a restaurant that they had seen on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives from the Food Network. Tyler and Heather got there right before the restaurant opened and people were already lined up to get in. If I remember correctly I think he said the specialty at the restaurant was burgers. He said it was worth the wait. The food was awesome!
They made it back to Vegas safe and sound on Sunday evening.....with Tyler still needing to go to band practice that night and back to work on Monday morning.
They had a great time in San Diego and are hoping to have another get away some time soon!
